How do I get my phone to connect the internal SD by USB? @Logos: Not that I know of. I certainly didn't intend to. |

How do I get my phone to connect the internal SD by USB? Also, I should note that I just tested on my laptop, and I get the same problem of not seeing my internal SD card, so it seems less likely to me that the problem is on the Ubuntu side. It's not absolute proof, but it does seem unlikely that both computers would have the same settings issues. |

How do I get my phone to connect the internal SD by USB? Thank you for responding. Running lsusb gets me this response: Bus 002 Device 011: ID 04e8:685b Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd GT-I9100 Phone [Galaxy S II] (mass storage mode). However, after following your instructions to the letter, I still only see the 12GB internal storage. |

How do I get my phone to connect the internal SD by USB? @UriHerrera: Thanks for responding. It doesn't seem to be the case with my phone in its current state. There is an /sdcard directory, but when mounted by USB, if I transfer files there, they are then on the internal storage, not the external SD card. Also, the drive only shows 12GB available, whereas I should have 12GB + an additional 16GB for the SD card. Lastly, Banshee does not automatically recognize the 16GB space where my music files like it did before, which is problematic. The last thing I want to do is start fighting with Banshee settings to get it to see a subdirectory. |

Why do all the directories on my tablet have all these weird numbers? @hheimbuerger: I'm not running 4.0.3. I'm running 3.2. I wanted to run ICS on my Galaxy Tab, but apparently there isn't support for the camera yet. |

Can I disable MTP mode and just have a regular USB connection? Okay, so I need to forget about trying to not have MTP and instead focus on how to make it work on Ubuntu. Thanks for clarifying. |

Why do all the directories on my tablet have all these weird numbers? Also, I tried to install gmtp as you recommended in a comment above, and I got through the whole process, but when I actually attempt to connect to my device through the gmtp interface, it hangs. |

Why do all the directories on my tablet have all these weird numbers? There's no Settings -> Wireless and networks -> USB Settings either, I'm afraid. The only USB setting that I have found anywhere in the settings is Applications->Development->USB debugging. As mentioned in the question, it has no impact on this issue. |

Why do all the directories on my tablet have all these weird numbers? Thank you for responding. However, there is no menu button at all under storage. There's just a bar graph showing me the device's storage memory usage. And I might be blind to the obvious, but I can't find any "USB Connection mode" option anywhere in the settings interface. |

If I root my phone, can my service providor tell if I am using my phone for USB tethering or as a WiFi hotspot? Nice tip! I'd give you another +1 if I could. |

If I root my phone, can my service providor tell if I am using my phone for USB tethering or as a WiFi hotspot? My current search seems to indicate that most, maybe all, tethering apps require a rooted phone. If anyone knows one that doesn't, please post a link. :) |

If I root my phone, can my service providor tell if I am using my phone for USB tethering or as a WiFi hotspot? @SamSPICA: As per my comment above, I hadn't started out thinking in that direction, but nonetheless it's a good suggestion to use an alternate tethering app that might circumvent the carrier's monitoring software and charges. You should put that as an answer, and even if it's not a direct answer, it would at least get you some rep. :) |

If I root my phone, can my service providor tell if I am using my phone for USB tethering or as a WiFi hotspot? @eldarerathis: Ah... I'm starting to see this a little clearer now. I guess at least part of what I'm asking is whether or not it's possible to use a different tethering app without rooting the phone... which is something I hadn't thought of until your comments, but I think that is an essential part of the question. |

If I root my phone, can my service providor tell if I am using my phone for USB tethering or as a WiFi hotspot? @SamSPICA: I don't think that's quite accurate. I don't think my service providor is currently just analyzing usage. I believe they have a specific process on the phone which manages the tethering process to monitor it. They can monitor it by the data packet and charge accordingly. |

My phone was just stolen an hour or so ago. Are there any options for tracking? @iSid: Good point to note, though in this case I did install and attempt to execute Plan B before changing my Google password. |
