comment Can I use wifi or Bluetooth to get the same kind of connection to my phone that I can with USB?
Tasker might be a viable option, but I'm actually also unclear on how I can get full file access over Wifi. My phone connects to the Wifi, but it doesn't appear as any kind of available drive on the LAN.

This sounds like a viable option for file transfer alone, but I realize that my question was not clear enough. I'd like to have the drives show up the same way they do as when connected by USB, so that I can do other things like syncing my music collection.

comment Is it possible to transfer one app from my old phone to my new if my phone is not rooted?
Additional note: On my old phone, I had Titanium Backup routinely send backups to my Dropbox account. The apks are individually compressed into gzip format with the name of the app in the name of the compressed file. I viewed it on my desktop to extract it (Maybe there's a decompress app for the phone). Then, by extracting it into my Dropbox folder, I was able to download and install it from within my Dropbox app on my new phone. In other words, the process was actually very easy.

comment How do I get the maximum video compatibility on my Android device?
Adding MX Player and Moboplayer seems to have helped. MX Player made me download an additional app from Google Play with extra codecs.

I only have the one account.

I have installed literally dozens of installs with Google Play from my phone. In accounts under sync, there is no entry for Play, and I have every other account (Gmail, Calendar, etc...) set to sync. I am also only using one account, the same one I have used for years.

comment Why am I constantly running out of space on my Galaxy S2?
Is this any different from deleting the files in /data/log?

comment Why am I constantly running out of space on my Galaxy S2?
Just an additional note for anyone who might be coming across this later: I was confused about the difference between the internal SD card and the internal HD of the device. The internal HD is about 2GB, and the internal SD is about 12 GB (and then there's the additional external 16GB drive.) I kept thinking that if I clean up my 12GB drive that would help, but it's the internal system drive, that is not visible when you connect by USB, where cleaning files was needed.

This may be the answer. In my /data/log (no 's' on 'log') folder, there was about half a gigabyte of data. Clearing this out seems to have helped, as I'm now getting less errors, but I'm going to run for a day or so to be sure.

Thank you for replying. I can not find a directory called gps in /system/etc/.

If I right click on the Android folder and select Properties (Using Ubuntu), it says it's about 210 MB.

@AlEverett: Thank you for those links. They shed a little light on the fact that my device has some issues with storage, but does not, as far as I can see, tell me what I can do to resolve the issue. If there is something I missed, I do apologize, and if so, perhaps someone could direct me to what I specifically should be looking at.

comment Why are these short USB cables not connecting my Android device?
Turns out the cables I had were indeed for charging only. Once I understood the extent of the difference, I looked more carefully in my local electronics store, and discovered that there was a whole different rack of data cables on a different floor.

comment What does a streaming application do when I switch from mobile data to wifi?
I'm not sure this really answers the question (even though the OP marked it correct). You say switching is handled "automatically", but it's still a little vague to me that a stream that is already running would cross over to a wifi connection from mobile data. If I am listening to streaming radio, wouldn't I most likely hear a transition, a pause or break, when the service was moved from mobile to wifi?

@Izzy: BubbleIPNP worked like a charm. Make that an answer and I'll green check it.

comment Lock screen stuck in landscape mode on Galaxy Tab 10.1
Thanks for responding. I'm not sure that I believe this is just default for all tablets, though. I've had different versions of Android before this and all have been able to show the lock screen in portrait mode.

@Flow: I don't think closing as "Too localised" is a "fake" reason.

@Flow: I can't delete it because there is an answer so the system won't allow it.

comment Why do all the directories on my tablet have all these weird numbers?
Voting to close as this has been rendered moot by upgrading the tablet to Android 4.

Voting to close. The font issue seems to be resolved by installing a ROM/Kernel more compatible with my phone, and as such I can't and won't be pursuing this issue any further.
