Principal engineer, Sony Pictures Imageworks.
Professional software engineer and researcher for 20 years, specializing in computer graphics for animation and visual effects. I mainly develop in C++ on Unix variants (Linux and OS X), but occasionally use Windows, Python, Perl, shell scripts, as well as programmable extension languages for a variety of packages.

QR scanner that doesn't want to access my contact list I think this shows why the permissions are handled all wrong. Instead of having to accept an app that mysteriously requires some set of permissions, Android should've been set up to allow us to turn them on and off on a per-app basis, then let the app pop up a dialog "You scanned a contact, but I don't have permission", if and only if you try to use that feature. |
