I'm an electrical engineer currently working as a software engineer and developer. Prior to that, I was a computer tech for 6 months at a independently owned computer store while I looked for an actual engineering job.

I'm a big gamer, with a lot of it taking place on the PC, but I also own a 360 and PS3.

comment Light Flow not pushing email notifications to my Pebble
@GAThrawn Awesome. That solves the immediate problem, as I can now use the Pebble app to push emails. Does the sleep mode also disable the backlight?

comment How to transfer files between Galaxy S3 and HTC one x using NFC
Have you tried installing another NFC transfer app? Also, have you tried just using Sbeam?

comment Defragmenting my Android Phone
@devnul3: Be careful, that post is about USB flash drives and not the internal flash storage found on phones. Much of the performance hit comes from USB, and is not inherent in flash memory itself.

comment Trouble installing Cyanogen on Galaxy S II using recovery console method
@MatthewRead: I see the 2 drives, but when I was trying this, it wouldn't let me put anything on the internal one. If I tried putting a file on the root, it would silently fail, if I tried one of the folders, it would say I didn't have permission. Not sure that's still the case, but I haven't tried since CM7 up and running.

Much thanks. Still not sure how to put a file there over USB, but using ASTRO File Manager, I made it happen.

Didn't the Milestone ship with LauncherPro? Try something else.

Are you using the standard keyboard, or some third party keyboard?

comment Is the Nexus One battery charged when connected to a PC via USB?
@Matt: The USB standard says 500mA is the max current a device can expect from a USB port. Yes, some ports these days are capable of delivering more, but they are not required to.

comment Can I get Swype on my Thunderbolt
The "Sorry this is not an android phone" message means that your user agent for your browser is not set to Android. I encountered this before, and resetting the user agent back to default solved the problem.

comment Can't write an SMS for some of my contacts
@XGouchet: Really? You prefer the default SMS over Handcent? You're the first person I know that's said that. Everyone I know that's tried Handcent loves it.

comment Is there a way to get a “zoom balloon” (like on the iphone) when sliding over a text input field?
What phone and version of Android are you running? Some alternative methods are available, but it's dependent on the hardware and software.

comment How to install the application in SDcard (android phone)?
Officially, the app also needs to support install to SD card. Widgets and live backgrounds should never be installed to the SD card.

The Galaxy S phones don't have a track ball or optical track pad, do they? That's normally how it would be done.

comment Can the Droid Eris be charged on a PowerPlate Wireless Induction Charging Base?
I would definitely consider the PowerMat. IMHO, they have a better known product. The prices for some of their products are also comparable to the PowerPlate. I'm sure the myGrid is also a good product.

comment Do I have to charge my phone before I use it the first time?
You're absolutely right. However, as I said, older generations of batteries are not like Li-Ion and Li-poly batteries in that they could degrade severely without a full charge/discharge cycle.

comment Is there a way to get my android phone to stop going back to the beginning of a song when I disconnect my bluetooth audio?
I'm not saying you have to delete the default Music app (in fact, don't do that!), but you can try one of the alternatives to see if that fixes the problem.
