Android-wise I was an early adopter, pre-ordering a G1 back in 2007. I had it rooted and running custom ROMs before it was a one-click deal and before NANDRIOD backups were easy to do! It's definitely less scary these days.
I currently have a Desire, rooted and running the latest CyanogenMod ROM since I finally decided I really didn't care enough about HTC Sense to keep waiting for the latest OS versions to be skinned before I could update.
Really not too excited about any of the phones that have come out since the Desire/Nexus One; they're OK but, meh. More interested in seeing the market for Honeycomb based tablets filling up. Not that I'll ever be able to afford one :o/

Reduce minimum in call volume P.S. I have tried asking my wife to speak more quietly but this did not help. Anything. At all. If you are having the same problem, do not try this. |

Does Voting on Market Comments Have Any Effect? I'm with @GAThrawn. Again, no evidence, but this is definitely Google's style, to the point that I'd always assumed that this would be how it worked. |

Why can't I Sync Picasa Web Albums? Do have the stock Android 3D Gallery app? (someone has given this answer already) The HTC gallery app doesn't sync to Picassa in the same way. |

Client-Server Android audio remote You can install XBMC Live to HDD or a USB drive to boot straight into XBMC if you don't need a fully accessible Ubuntu front end - I use this with the remote app (which is really solid now) for my media center. Otherwise, you could set XBMC to launch on startup. |

How to remove home-screens on a Vodafone 845? @Al correct, but the article I linked to in the comment on your answer says this phone has a custom home screen, so I don't think it is the stock home screen we're talking about here |

How to remove home-screens on a Vodafone 845? Loks like this phone comes with a funny custom homescreen app: "Android 2.1 comes with five home screens that you can flick through from side to side. With the 845, if you drag an icon to the border of the existing home screens, a new home screen is created. In effect, you can create an unlimited number of rows and columns to fit all the icons and widgets you want." - expertreviews.co.uk/smartphones/279154/vodafone-845 |

Android phone<->Google contacts - usage model and best practices? Yes, the behaviour you desire is exactly what Android normally does. However, different phones running non "stock" Android may have different contact apps that interact differently (though I've had no problems with either stock Android or HTC Sense devices). It would definitely help to know the device model & Android version. |
