comment How can I permanently disable (not uninstall) a stock app?
"Login" here is ambiguous, as the term is often misused :( If we're talking about logins to Google accounts then no, it makes no difference. Android runs all apps and service under a single local operating system user account, regardless of how many Google accounts are associated with that device's local user.

comment Is it a good idea/useful to use two Anti-virus apps on Android?
No, just uploading them to virustotal.com would not be sufficient. Virus scanners can only check for known viruses, and new variants crop up all the time - hence all the updates AV software does. So a one time check on a sideloaded app will only tell you that, as of that date, there are no known viruses associated with that app.

I wouldn't say that installing apps from Play only guarantees a lack of malware (always check app permissions, at the very least!), but overall I'd agree with Karan that for the average user AV is totally unnecessary, and that having two different AV products on the same device is extremely undesirable regardless of OS as they will work at cross purposes and hugely slow down a device.

comment Root my android tablet
A stock ROM is still a ROM. Also, signing it shouldn't be necessary if it's installing an SU binary...

No argument there, but wasn't really within the scope of the question as it was put IMO.

comment where is the option to enable MTP?
@MatthewRead: It was a Note II, running 4.2.2. Doesn't seem to be working on Note III running 4.3. There's an app that checks the manifest on your phone for what dialcodes are available.

comment where is the option to enable MTP?
I never had the option that I could find; I had to dial *#7284# and then click the USB settings in the phone properties.

Excellent point, tho probably too technical for most users to grasp.

comment Is there a way to automatically put my Android phone into silent mode while recharging?
Tasker is pretty much the default answer for any question that follows the format "Is there a way to have my device automatically do X if condition Y?" :D

comment Find out which firmware to use to revert to stock ROM
Not helpful, as if the OP doesn't know the correct carrier he can brick his phone by using a ROM with the wrong radio.

The safest way to get a copy of ad-away is to install F-Droid and use that to obtain it. Or you can download the ad away APK directly from F-Droid, too. "On this site you’ll find a repository of FOSS apps, along with an Android client to perform installations and updates, and news, reviews and other features covering all things Android and software-freedom related. F-Droid is a non-profit organisation registered in England (no. 8420676)."

No such luck, unfortunately - I've tried any number of combination of things. I'll see what the devs have to say, but they may quite possibly think it not worth the effort :P

comment how much current can Samsung Galaxy S II take for charging with whatever ROM?
Well, you can either take my experience and general knowledge of the phone or leave it as you like - I'm afraid I can't provide supporting material for everything I know. I recall picking up the 1amp fact (all chargers are 5V, for whatever reason) on xda-dev when reading about 2amp Note II chargers, but wouldn't swear to that being the source. As for the ROM being able to modulate charging rate, I've not heard of such a thing myself but I'd be extremely leery of fiddling such if it was present - sound like a sure recipe for disaster.

comment Are all apps on Google Play compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S4?
What are you basing that on? I've not seen any breakdowns like that of app/device compatibility, anywhere.

comment Why can't I link2sd the Play Store and Maps apps?
For individual apps, it would be "Settings->Applications-><application name>->Clear cache". Unfortunately you have to do them one by one :P Clearing systems caches is done by the OS on a schedule. There are apps for cleaning out caches to automate this for you - often very helpful for people whom space is an issue.

comment Why can't I link2sd the Play Store and Maps apps?
No, you cannot move them. That's the point - it would break your phone to do so. You would probably be able to free up a fair amount of space by deleting the app caches and system caches though.

comment How do I make my Linux PC mount my Android 4.2.2 phone using MTP?
Strange. My machine (Linux Mint 15, MATE) auto mounts and unmounts without these additional rules.

comment What are the options for streaming music from PC to phone?
FYI, if you're worried about data and you're just using it around the house, list the Subsonic server as the local IP address and it should then only be accessible over wifi.

comment Is it possible to mount .iso files (virtual optical drive) on Android?
Why exactly do you want to mount ISO images? That's a rather unusual request; perhaps we can suggest something else just as good if we knew why. Generally it's more efficient to rip the content to another kind of file than mount an entire disc.
