Thanks for the answer. Good point for (1), but I don't think this applies for my phone (unfortunately). As for the second, I was considering to replace these with the "pure native" Android apps for that (from the source). Would that do the trick?

@SachinShekhar Ok, if you feel that all the others are also relevant, then I'm sorry: close this question. Please do consider to update that community wiki.

comment If I use free WiFi in a hotspot, can data be easily sniffed?
Not quite an answer, but there's an app called WifiKill that can redirect traffic to your phone if it's on the same network, and "kill" the internet connection. So, I guess it wouldn't be harder to just "sniff" the data if it's not encrypted. forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1282900

comment Can adb start my android device that shows up as “offline”?
i am using the stock cable, and it's working fine(when my phone is "normal"). it shows the name of my device as offline when i run adb devices, only when it's in that state where i don't know if it's off or not... it shows in adb as offline (which means it is not off as usual) and anything i do with it shows it is off completely (and i cannot turn it on)... i will try kill/start server when my phone gets back in that state. thanks
