I am having the same problem. Did you find a solution? On my phone, it just randomly stops showing in the dropdown, and I have to re-install it and it disappears again in a few daus/hours...

comment Harden adb on Android 2.3
This application might help you doing this. I haven't tried it personally but it seems exactly like what you'd want, plus some extra stuff.

comment Do you need to run uninstallers/cleaners on Android to maintain performance levels like on Windows?
@Poldie Also, isn't defragging strictly an NTFS thing? Or does it also apply to FAT32?

comment What's the security implication of having an unlocked boot loader?
@ce4 Might be, it's a Samsung Galaxy Fit btw. And I just checked: CWM 5 has an option to toggle signature verification, but it was turned off by default and had never noticed it before now. And flashing CM nightly while it's on worked as usual... This is weird! but interesting :D

comment What's the security implication of having an unlocked boot loader?
@ce4 Then how come I rooted my device using the stock recovery? Is it exploiting a bug in the recovery or is it legitimately signed? If it is exploiting a bug, then it's as insecure as any other firmware, right? And if it's signed, well, what's the point of signing then?

comment How does the Ubuntu Phone OS relate to the Android OS?
Thank you for your answer :) So it seems like web apps will remain the best bet for compatibility, all platforms included. But it's a good thing that at least the drivers are compatible!

comment How do I make my email alert *annoying*?
@fluffy I think you can turn it off by opening the notifications area. And maybe as for phone calls, press the volume down button.

comment Can adb start my android device that shows up as “offline”?
@hugemeow That was the point of my question, but I did not get an answer... I still don't know what it is, but if you are getting this, there is something wrong. I flashed another ROM, and everything was OK again. I'm not sure what was causing it...

comment Why is the SD-card mounted to “/sdcard/external_sd” instead of “/sdcard” (or “/mnt/sdcard”)?
If both the external storage and the /data partition are merged, how could I safely mount/unmount my SD card to plug it, say, in my PC? It seems to me that having separate partitions is logical and I don't see why all that had to happen.

comment How to detect who is downloading apk files in background?
I don't know if it would help anyway because the app that technically started the notification is the "Downloads" app most probably... What you need to know is the app that started that one, which you might be able to find in the logcat.

comment How to detect who is downloading apk files in background?
@Hit You might be able to get something from the logcat , something like "starting intent download.app.whatever.it.is.called", but I'm not sure it will give you the name of the app that started it... But an app that will do that for you (if that's even feasible), it's pretty unlikely you'll ever find one. IMO your best bet might be manually trying to kill each one and see...

comment How to detect who is downloading apk files in background?
@RichardBorcsik It is very unlikely all his apps are running, and some task manager apps can prevent the apps from restarting (in case they do, not all apps will restart), so killing let's say 5 suspicious apps one or two at a time shouldn't be that much of a problem. Just by seeing which ones are running (and not expected to be) you would have eliminated half of the possibilities.

@RichardBorcsik It won't stop the download, but it will prevent it from starting...

comment Why does the CM7 Radio FM app require bluetooth to run?
hehe thanks :) too bad android didn't set a "standard" regarding this, as it does for all the other hardware. But we can't blame it :) we should blame manufacturers here :)

Googling a bit, I found lots of "BT/RDS" receivers. I didn't know they were related in any way.

comment Why does the CM7 Radio FM app require bluetooth to run?
Ok, so I guess in the stock rom, they knew which chipset they were dealing with, so there was no need to make compatibility maximal, right? Maybe there is no way to "detect" which chipset requires what. Thanks a lot.

Can you elaborate a little bit? How does the headset act as an antenna and uses the Bluetooth chip? And why did it work before (is it the app just assuming the "worst-case scenario"?) Thanks for the answer anyway :)

@t0mm13b Samsung Galaxy Fit. But I don't think it's relevant as on other ROMs the FM Radio worked without this requirement.

$ dmesg or dmsg? There must be a typo in one of these :)
