comment How to root my HTC Thunderbolt?
@acheong87: This answer was written more than one year ago. Most of the stuff should be still relevant, but do verify the information here before trying to root your phone. Good luck!

comment Really know what is using internal storage
You seem to be confusing internal storage with RAM -- if the phone is running out of space, app killer program won't be of much use.

comment Can I use a external Bluetooth Adapter on an Android Tablet without internal bluetooth?
Do you really want to transfer files over Bluetooth? The speed is not going to be great, nor the connection reliable. I'd rather use something like Air Droid which can be used over a Wi-Fi network.

comment Desire HD GPS can't “lock” on a satellite?
Not from my experience, it doesn't. When at new location abroad with all data turned off, GPS needs about a minute in a clear sky conditions to get a lock with 6-7 satellites at all times. After that, lock is maintained easily, with some 20-ish seconds needed to re-lock if the GPS has been turned off for a while. Besides, most (all?) Android devices have AGPS, which significantly speeds up the positioning, and the AGPS data is not dependent on Google in any way.

comment Execute Windows Run Command or Some Windows Batch Process from Android
This is a dangerous advice: SSH Windows is positively ancient (7 years since the latest release, for a critical piece of software) and unsupported. Better alternatives exist, and Wikipedia lists most of them.

comment Google maps wants a login now? Is there a way around this?
If you find yourself hampered by Google's requirements, you can just set up a bogus GMail account that you don't use for anything else and will only be associated with your device without containing any of your personal information.

comment What's the “MTC Мобильная Почта” update on my Samsung Galaxy?
"Мобильная Почта" means "Mobile Mail" in Russian.

comment Client-Server Android audio remote
MPD is definitely the way to go here. XBMC also has an MPD client if the machine also doubles as a media server.

comment Are there any risks to flashing a ROM?
Depends when exactly troubles happened. If you make a backup of your stock ROM during recovery (which is suggested in the HOW-TO you linked to, and is strongly recommended anyway), then you can revert back to it if you are not happy for some reason with CyanogenMod.

comment Are there any risks to flashing a ROM?
Depends on how you define "safe". The guide seems all right and provides step-by-step instructions. As it says in the disclaimer, you have to be careful and follow the steps exactly unless you know what you are doing. From experience, it's only scary the first time, and unless something goes terribly wrong, your device won't be bricked irreversibly.

comment SMS-Email Gateway App
The first could be tricky, but the second is possible with SMS Backup+ (only to a Gmail account AFAIR).

comment Is there a way to cancel a sending message?
I'd venture a guess that the delay is caused by the Messaging application waiting for a response from the cell tower that the message has been successfully sent. If that's the case, killing the app won't work.

comment Suspicious Permissions And A Safe Repository?
For future reference, you can use something like Titanium Backup to make backups of previous app versions and revert to them if something goes wrong (This saved my bacon when I almost got locked out of my Google account due to a botched Authenticator update).

comment Phone not updating Market to Google Play?
@Poldie: it's quite easy really, the scary part is the rooting, and that's quite simple now. Just remember to make a backup of everything, and you should be fine. Here's the official update guide: wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/… FWIW I'm very happy with Cyanogen and I don't regret switching. Much more space on the device, at the very least, and some nice root-only apps -- and of course running the latest Gingerbread.

comment Phone not updating Market to Google Play?
@Poldie: I do have a Desire, but with CyanogenMod 7.1, and I got the new market very quickly. AFAIR, Market updates are pushed by Google in their own discretion and are not dependent on device makers or carriers.

comment Accounts inexplicably removed from “Accounts & sync”
@RichardBorcsik: I did, actually. But the accounts disappear only rarely, sometimes week pass between occasions. But you might be right that it could have something to do with SD card mounting. I need to experiment to confirm

comment Can't install previously installed apps from Google Play
I see your point, I also frequently install apps from the web interface. My point was to try and install the same app from there to see whether it works at all, it might be a synchronization issue with your Google account after factory reset.

comment Can't install previously installed apps from Google Play
Did you try installing from your device directly instead from the web interface of Play Store? I vaguely remember having a similar issue previously on my phone (HTC Desire).

comment Restoring messages from ClockworkMod backup
This won't help you currently, but something to consider for the future: if you find yourself switching ROMs frequently, you can try an SMS backup application like SMS Backup & Restore which backs up your messages to an XML on your SD card, or SMS Backup+ which syncs your messages and call logs to your Google account (essentially as GMail messages).
