A C# developer by day and a Linux enthusiast by night. I also enjoy Android development, video games, chess, soccer, and voiding warranties.

I currently own a Nexus 5 and a SHIELD Tablet. I build my own AOSP-based ROM for my Nexus 5.

comment Lollipop features not available after upgrade to Lollipop (android 5.0.2) on Galaxy Tab S
The Galaxy Tab S doesn't have an NFC chip (same goes for the 8 inch variety). Those items are hidden because you can't use them anyway.

comment after factory reset can nexus get lollipop through ota?
A factory reset doesn't downgrade Android. What, precisely, happened that caused your device to downgrade?

comment Cyanogenmod says I have less memory than I should have
Sounds like perhaps CM is reporting space actually available to you, whereas HTC Sense reports total space, including anything that's in use by system files. Is it a "32 GB" device, I'm guessing?

comment Chromecast performance differs between devices
Possibly it's because the Chromecast is 2.4 GHz only, so you're getting more interference on that band when it has to both stream and communicate back and forth with the Tab all on the same band.

comment When tryig to adb sideload to Nexus 7 for lollipop getting E: Footer is wrong
Are you on KOT49H currently? You should be able to find that in Settings => About device, I think. Aside from that, usually a corrupted download will give a signature error like that. You could try re-downloading it, perhaps.

Sideloading the three updates in the second set from top to bottom would put you on Lollipop (5.0.2).

@KristyWelsh The GSM model of the N7 hasn't received an OTA to 5.1 yet, but I've added links that will get you up to 5.0.2. If you want to install 5.1 you'll have to use fastboot to flash the factory image for now.

If you downloaded it through a browser instead of an app store then you didn't purchase it...so what is it exactly that you would like us to solve for you?

comment Best custom rom for i9100?
The second portion of your question (which you've now put in your title) is not really suitable for our site either. It would fall under "Questions asking us to find or recommend an app, device, ROM, accessory or off-site resource are off-topic for Android Enthusiasts as they tend to attract opinionated answers and spam and become obsolete quickly." Alternatively, it would be considered a duplicate of Where can I find stock or custom ROMs for my Android device?

comment What actually happens when you swipe an app out of the recent apps list?
@StevenWexler: It could be that the service ended on its own in the first case but not the second, or it could be that in the second scenario the main process determined (for some reason) that it did not want to stop the service. Hard to know for certain.
