Sep 26, 2015 at 16:59 comment added Lisandro If you updated CM than check /data/media/clockworkmod/backup There are automatically generated backups that take up a very large chunk of space.

Aug 8, 2012 at 17:59 comment added Fredrik Irritates me as well, a lot :-)
Aug 8, 2012 at 11:55 comment added Izzy @Fredrik makes sense (that summing up) but for one thing: temp stuff should belong to /tmp which is tmpfs and thus doesn't survive a boot. But that would mean Google sticks to its own rules -- and we see with the sync settings a.o. how much they do (best known violators come from Google Labs, e.g. Latitude). If your suspicion proves true, gains from uninstalls should be marginal. But what still irritates me is your screenshots showing up ~90% free (used on internal only sums up to ~2,1G there).
Aug 8, 2012 at 11:45 comment added Fredrik It doesn't have much cache registered... I assumed it did something else, like unjar/unzip of the apk somewhere and then bailed out with an exception and forgot to clean it up when it failed installing. If it tries again and again and again it could add up. But I have no proofs, it just feels like the main suspect :-)

Aug 8, 2012 at 9:33 comment added Izzy That would be a heavy issue -- we're talking about several Gigabytes missing. You will find out about it in the "burial" process: Coming to the market app in step 3, uninstall its updates and clear its cache/data (as you cannot uninstall the app itself), and you will see...
Aug 8, 2012 at 9:29 comment added Fredrik I somehow suspect it is Market/Google Play which is behind all this... With the now 500M free memory, the only time it falls back to some 200M is when Market has been out checking for updates and failed updating (because of low memory it claims, but I doubt 500M wouldn't be enough for an 3,5M update).
Aug 7, 2012 at 21:39 comment added Izzy @Fredrik I updated my answer with the steps proposed in my last comment. You might want to check the item with the numbered list within.

Aug 7, 2012 at 21:29 comment added Izzy You are very welcome! Before doing the reset it would be good to figure out which app was "guilty". For this, I'd recommend: Airplane Mode (to keep the market uninformed), then uninstall all apps one-by-one and check everytime for "signs and portents". With some luck you figure out -- for the next time. Due to the "uninformed market" you should be able to "simply resync your apps + some data" after the factory reset, as the market does not know about the uninstalls.

Aug 7, 2012 at 19:40 comment added Fredrik Thanks for all the good pointers... I didn't really get anywhere except closer to realizing a real backup and a factory reset is probably my best bet. Thanks again.
