add android 8.1 and 9.0
Apr 9, 2018 at 21:06 comment added Marcos Marin I installed 6.0.1 on a Nexus5 and the about page claims I have kernel version 3.4.0. Any chance there's a bug in the about page?
Feb 7, 2018 at 15:49 comment added Cees Timmerman My Sony Xperia Z5 Premium runs Android 7.1.1 with kernel 3.10.84 yet the XA1 runs 7.0 with kernel 4.4.15. Likely due to kernel-mode drivers.
Dec 24, 2017 at 5:32 comment added Roy Falk Note that even Google isn't following this. Just checked the emulator with API 26 and the kernel is 3.18.56+

Aug 21, 2013 at 12:43 comment added John I can completely see why different devices running the same Android version would run different kernels, but this table is just a rule of thumb and yes I would like a grain of salt with my rule of thumb =)
Aug 21, 2013 at 12:31 comment added t0mm13b There's no hard fast rules involved! For instance, ICS/JB on Zte Blade used kernel 2.6.35, ICS on Sony Xperia Mini was 2.6.32... take this with a pinch of salt as its only a guideline :)
