fixed link
Jul 9, 2014 at 10:40 comment added AndroidEnthusiast started using this today and it's pretty awesome! two questions: 1. Is there any way to program the widget to dial a specific phone number? 2. Is there any way to pass it a link for a specific action in an app? Instead of opening the app, I would like to go to a specific page in the app, so an app link method would be awesome

Jul 2, 2014 at 13:03 comment added AndroidEnthusiast Oh, I guess I may have phrased the question in the wrong way. Are there fixed widget sizes or are the widgets of variable widths? Also, can you recommend a home screen app that allows for a minimal amount of padding? Thanks so much @dan-hulme
Jul 2, 2014 at 13:01 comment added Dan Hulme The image size is only limited by the amount of RAM on the device. I've tested it with some pretty large images. It scales the image to fit automatically, so if you're creating images in a paint program to make a neat-looking panel like this, you might need to experiment with image sizes a bit to get things looking how you want. This is especially the case as home screens generally fit the widget into a "grid" with padding, so if you resize the widget to be 2x1 grid squares, it's more than twice the width of a 1x1 widget. I'm on Android Enthusiasts Chat if you want to discuss this further.

Jul 2, 2014 at 12:49 comment added AndroidEnthusiast Can you recommend a home screen app to allow for the minimal padding like in the screen? I'd love to be able to create something pretty similar because I think it looks really clean. Sorry for the trouble and thanks for all your help!
Jul 2, 2014 at 12:46 comment added Dan Hulme Really, it depends on what home screen app you use. You can make a whole home screen full of widgets going to different apps or sites, but most launchers put quite a lot of padding in between each widget, so there'd be a lot more empty space than in your screenshot.
Jul 2, 2014 at 12:41 comment added AndroidEnthusiast This is cool - thanks Dan! One quick question - would it be possible to create something almost exactly like above with Showr or would there be inherent differences in Android that I'd need to account for?
