My HTC One was doing a software update then just shut off. Now it won't do anything except show the red triangle with a explanation mark in the middle.

I have tried rebooting it and everything but nothing works.

How can I get my phone to boot again?

First off. See if you can get into recovery mode. Turn off phone and then hold the volume up, home, and power buttons at the same time. note this button combination may be different based on what phone you have. Look up your model. After you get into recovery mode see if you can restart your phone from there. If you still cannot restart your phone do these steps:

  1. Turn off phone
  2. Boot into recovery using the same method as before
  3. Select wipe cache partition - this will not delete any user files only temporary system files like those related to installations.
  4. Restart the phone

If that worked then there you go. You can try the software update again (make sure your phone is plugged into a charger so that battery loss is not an issue to interrupt your software update). If the phone still won't update post a reply so I can help you further. Hope this helped

  • this is in reply to the above comments Even though there are no self-replicating programs (often considered viruses) on smartphones to date, there is still maleware that can affect android systems. However, I do not think that this is a related issue to this problem. I think the issue to the problem is that the system software update was corrupted when the system lost power during the update. – Logan M Mar 9 '15 at 16:57
