Is there an app that allows your Android device to act as a barcode reader, in such a way that it can send something like keyboard inputs to a computer in real-time?

I made a free alternative: Barcode to PC: Wi-Fi scanner.

It sends realtime keystrokes, no copy&paste required, works everywhere

  • @minimiro Did you add the server to windows firewall exceptions? If yes it may be your antivirus that blocks the app. – filippo Mar 3 '17 at 17:26
  • Free and works very well without any configuration necessary. Thanks – leszek.hanusz May 25 '17 at 14:14
  • @filippo Thank you so much! The app is so well done and works seamlessly. I can't believe it's free! Thank you. You deserve more upvotes. – ADTC Aug 28 '17 at 7:11

I use Kinoni Barcode Reader Pro.

A lot of other "Send Barcode to PC" Apps require you to manually setup and configure the server part on your the PC (mostly VNC) that receives the barcode.

With this one, you just install the App, download their PC Setup Program and make sure that your phone is connected to the same network as your PC.

That's it. Although it costs 5€, you are done in no time and it simply works.

  1. Install Barcode Scanner. In Barcode Scanner app settings check "copy to clipboard" after scanning.

  2. Install ClipSync

Now your PC should have the info in clipboard so do Ctrl+V.

I haven't tested it myself but it should work, and both apps are free.

I made a (free) app that shows scanned codes on webpage, allowing easy copy, updated real-time.
