I switched to Nexus 5x recently, and mostly like it so far. I can't figure out how to access the second character screen in the keyboard, for regional languages, though.

Previously, I was on Lumia 930. The keyboard for Kannada looked like this:

enter image description here

Screen 1 Is the default character screen, it has the vowel combos that gives me all of the consonant conjuncts and structured consonants. When I tap the key, I get the Screen 2 with primary vowels and the unstructured consonants

This behaviour is same for all the regional languages I speak - Telugu, Kannada, and Tamil.

On my Nexus, I have this screen:

There is no secondary screen for my primary vowels and unstructured consonants(?!). I mean, I'm only missing my 13 main vowels, no big deal.

Tapping the ?123 key just takes me to the numbers screen, where the numbers are in English, instead of the current language. I also haven't figured out what the button that's circled in red does. It doesn't seem to do anything at all, that I can figure out.

So how do I access other missing characters on Android please?

The Android Version is 6.0.1

ps: Also, what's the functionality of the divider-looking button?
