I'm using Android 4.2.2. About 7 or 8 days ago, I don't have any quality options on the YouTube app, and videos can only play on default quality, and I thought maybe the app has a problem.

I updated the app but that does not work. After that, I search on YouTube, then I realize some old browsers do not support some quality, so I checked YouTube on the Android browser and I found out the browser doesn't have quality either, but on the Firefox app, I have the quality option. I think the YouTube app may be using the default Android browser option for playing videos or something like that.

I also tested this advice:

  1. Uninstall all YouTube updates and reinstall, but not work
  2. Clear cache and data, but not work
  3. Set Firefox browser as the default browser, but not work
  4. Try some other browsers, still not work
  5. Update Android Flash player, not work

How can I fix this problem? Is there a way to update the default Android browser or any trick or any app or any plugin to fix this?

  • "Recently", when did it start happening? YouTube app is independent of any browser though, so updating any browser is unrelated, including Android Flash Player (it doesn't use Flash player).

If you are using the YouTube app while on mobile data instead of WiFi, it often will not give you the option to change the quality. So I would suggest using the app on WiFi or only when you have high cellular reception.

  • I always using the app on wifi and it's weird becoz I have that option before I don't really know what happen it made so confuse tnx by the way for suggestion..now when I want to watch a video on 360p I should use web online downloader scripts then openn download URL on android players such as km and it's so annoying.
