I have a Sony Xperia M4 Aqua. It's the "8Gb" internal storage but as we all know most of that is taken up by the android OS and pre-installed apps (which can't be deleted/uninstalled). So my question is this, can I put all these space taking apps and the android system into a compressed folder (7z, zip or rar) and still run my phone as normal? Would it allow the android OS to run without problem from the compressed folder? And ultimately, which is the most important, will this free up some space?

  • It doesn't work that way. Root and try removing some unimportant stuff from /system, but in the end with 8GB of storage there's not much you can do. – Andy Yan Oct 1 '16 at 9:36
  • Sadly, that's not how things work in Android.. – Gokul NC Oct 1 '16 at 10:59
