I got a device with Stock ROM with android 4.2.2 without root yet. I got into adb shell with #. I successfully did 'mount -o rw,remount /'. However, when I try to do 'mount -o rw,remount /system'. It said read-only filesystem. In mount I can see theemmc@android mounted at /system as ext4, which is actually a device called /dev/block/mmcblk0p5.

/emmc@android /system ext4 ro,relatime,noauto_da_alloc,commit=1,data=ordered 0 0

Here is its tune2fs result:

 # tune2fs -l /dev/block/mmcblk0p5

It has 5 errors which probably my attempt to do remount. I try to boot into recovery mode. But it does not have adb access. So I cannot do e2fsck. Any suggestion about what should I try to get it mount as rw?

  • You'll need root for that. Than in shell type "su" (without quotes), grant root for adb on phone and than use "mount -o rw,remount /system" – Једноруки Крстивоје Oct 20 '16 at 22:31
  • I've already in root shell. I do not need su at all at this point. I do want to push su in to /system/bin. This is not privilege problem since I can change / and any other dir/file permission without any problem. – Wang Oct 20 '16 at 22:39
