  1. On your device, open Settings > Apps.
  2. Tap AntiVirus, and then tap Uninstall.
  3. Tap OK to confirm the uninstallation.

In case the Uninstall button is not active and you cannot follow the steps above, you should disable the Device Administrator feature in AVG AntiVirus first:

  • Open AVG AntiVirus.

  • Tap Anti-Theft.

  • Un-check the option Device Administrator.

  • Close AVG AntiVirus, and then folow the steps above. The Uninstall button should be active now.

  • The question states that disabling the device adminstratot does not work. – Organic Marble Dec 13 '16 at 12:26
  • Did you read and understand my answer, didn't you? The option is within AVG, not in the system. – esQmo_ Dec 13 '16 at 12:40

You can try one thing. Go to System settings->Apps, tap on the menu button (3 dots at the top right corner of the title bar). Then click on Reset app preferences and then click OK in the following dialog box.

Resetting the app preferences can solve this issue. Then you can uninstall the app with the normal steps.
