I am using the official Resurrection Remix 5.8.0 on my unlocked Moto X Play. I am experiencing an issue with mobile data; every so often the data won't connect when I enable it. The icon in the quick settings panel shows the data transfer icon but neither does the statusbar icon show transfer nor do I have actual internet connection. This happens about 1 or 2 times a day and I have to reboot my device to fix it. Resetting the APNs did not help and airplane mode is also useless.

Is this a software issue? If so, should I switch from Resurrection Remix (which is based on CyanogenMod) to an AOSP ROM. Are there any possible fixes?

Sounds like a ROM issue, if this does not happen with the stock ROM for your device, then it is the chosen ROM. You could try either returning to stock, or another ROM to see if the issue persists.

  • This has happened on two CM-based ROMs already. Do you think that I should use an AOSP ROM? Also, this issue seems not to be described in any forum posts or bug reports. – Patryk Michalik Jan 25 '17 at 17:52
  • The you should try stock to make sure it is working there okay if you've tried 2 other ROMs already. CM is based off of AOSP, with its own customization. – DukeSilversJazz Jan 25 '17 at 18:38
  • I am not really keen on finding the stock ROM and installing it. Do you think I can check whether the hardware is OK somehow else? Also, would you recommend checking out a ROM which is closer to AOSP (not based on something based on AOSP) or do you think that won't make a difference? – Patryk Michalik Jan 25 '17 at 20:02
  • Both ROMs that I have used are based on CM and are really similar to each other. I think that something closer to stock Android could be a good idea. – Patryk Michalik Jan 25 '17 at 20:08
