I'm receiving most text messages as would be expected, but it would seem one person in particular is unable to reach me. I am receiving the messages. I have the notifications telling me that I have unread messages, but when I look for their conversation, it does not exist. I was able to confirm the messages belong to them by adding them as a priority sender. A notification number was attached to their picture.

Now, I do not have this person on any sort of block list, I've check all of those, and there seems to be no reason that I shouldn't be seeing messages. This is on a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, running Android 6.0.1 stock.

EDIT: As additional information, the message do appear on my Samsung Gear S2.

Any advice as to how I can access these messages would be most appreciated.

  • Have you tried a third-party SMS app like Google Messenger, EvolveSMS, Textra, to see if those can see the messages from this person? Rebooted device? – DukeSilversJazz Feb 16 '17 at 14:25
  • I've rebooted, and no third party apps seem to have any better luck. – RankoChan Feb 16 '17 at 14:27
  • are you using any 3rd party sms-hiding-kind-of app like Netqin Vault or GoSMS Pro ? It moves the SMS for particular numbers from the SMS inbox to it's private storage (i.e, if you have added that number as private). This usually takes a second or two. Maybe that's the reason why you can see a notification as the message arrives. – Anu Shibin Joseph Raj Feb 17 '17 at 16:24
  • For a while I was using Google messenger. But I stopped that a few months ago. – RankoChan Feb 17 '17 at 16:26
  • Can't seem to edit on my phone, meant Facebook messenger. – RankoChan Feb 17 '17 at 16:27
