I bought a super obscure phone for $20 from the grocery store. It's an Alcatel Pixi Avion LTE that's linked to Tracfone. There's nothing about it online, no TWRPs or custom recoveries available.

I can get to recovery <3e> via "adb reboot recovery." However, trying to reboot to the bootloader or fastboot just restarts the phone.

I dug around in the filesystem and there seems to be recovery binary, but not a fastboot binary.

The phone isn't rooted and the bootloader is locked and I cannot get to fastboot.

I have tried one-click root apps such as Kingoroot but they have all failed.

How can I root this phone?

  • For an unpopular device, you got nothing to flash anyway... – Andy Yan Aug 20 '17 at 16:08
  • Mainly it's for unlocking the bootloader so I can root. – DataPools Aug 20 '17 at 16:13
  • @DataPools What Android version does it have? – Death Mask Salesman Aug 20 '17 at 17:55
  • @Death Mask Salesman Android 5.1.1 Lollipop – DataPools Aug 20 '17 at 20:15
  • @DataPools As last resource for rooting, you could try TowelRoot (not affiliated with the developer), but there are high chances that it won't work. – Death Mask Salesman Aug 20 '17 at 20:34
