When I share a link from a browser on Android to another app, in some cases the focus switches to that app (e.g. Evernote), and in some other cases - it stays with the browser (e.g. when sharing to SimpleTask), and the 'shared to' app completes the action in the background. What determines this behavior? Is there a way to configure this globally, or per app via some general Android settings, so that 'shared to' app always completes the action in the background, so that I don't have to hit 'back' to go back to browser?

  • If its UI thread, it will switch to that screen. If its background thread, it wont switch. – Ajitha Nov 22 '17 at 7:01
  • so is the behavior up to the 'sharing' or 'shared to' app? from your answer it sounds like it depends on how the 'sharing' app invokes the 'shared to' app and it gets to choose what thread to run it on ... – User Nov 23 '17 at 1:48
