I am trying to install a ROM by using ClockworkMod v5.8.3.4. I downloaded the zip file of the ROM, as well as the gapps associated to it, and I pushed the both files to the Android device by using 'adb push'.

I booted my Android device in CWM Recovery mode and:

1) installed ROM zip from sdcard

2) installed gapps zip from sdcard

It worked ok apparently (no error message was shown). However, I selected "reboot system now" on CWM, and I always get the same initial menu of the CWM Recovery mode ("reboot system now", "insall zip from sdcard", etc.). I expected that the new system with the new ROM appeared, but it does not.

What am I doing wrong?

  • Did you flash 1 and 2 in one shot? That could be a problem. Flash ROM first, check if it is stable then flash 2 – beeshyams Jan 13 '18 at 9:10
  • @beeshyams it's often recommended to flash the two in one shot. But of course OP could try to skip GApps to see if the ROM boots at all. – Izzy Jan 13 '18 at 15:51
  • @izzy: Perhaps varies from device. Last I flashed Happen was on Note 2 where it was recommended to do it separately. But then, will take you word for it with your experience – beeshyams Jan 13 '18 at 16:14

    @beeshyams please don't: you know I don't ever flash GApps, so who am I to tell? :) – Izzy Jan 13 '18 at 19:59
