I'm wondering if it is at all possible to downgrade my current version of Android on my smartphone from marshmallow to lollipop without the use of a regular computer. Is it able to be downloaded and simply replaced by slashing somehow or is there a lot more that needs to be done?

Generally speaking, no. In many devices isn't even possible to downgrade WITH a computer But this comment is more for clarification. Please edit your original question to include your make and model of device and it's current condition (working, stock, rooted, TWRP installed, custom ROM, etc) or this question will be closed as too broad in scope for this site. – acejavelin Mar 2 '18 at 18:23
  • You need to edit your question to say what phone you're asking about. – Dan Hulme Mar 3 '18 at 19:20
