When touching a video on WhatsApp, even it has already finished downloading, it will open the video showing the pause button in its center as if it's opening, but it won't start.
Some videos do play well, some don't. Anyway, I get no error messages.

I can only play the videos from the Gallery.

This answer on WhatsApp's FAQ, apparently talks about a scenario where the videos cannot be played at all, whereas in my device that can't be played only by WhatsApp.

Even videos I recorded in my device within WhatsApp, won't pay on WhatsApp.

I reinstalled WhatsApp (losing much info on the way!), but that didn't help either.

I'm using WhatsApp ver. 2.18.65 on my Asus Zenfone 2 with Android 6.0.1.

  • @beeshyams as stated in my question, I'm able to play them from the Android Gallery. – Shimmy Mar 5 '18 at 9:19

Sorry, missed that – beeshyams Mar 5 '18 at 9:25
  • I'm sure you have tried the following, but in case you didn't I'll ask: did you try restarting your phone? – aBochur Mar 5 '18 at 13:40
  • Also, do you have an app that moves files from your internal memory to the sd card? Also, after the video is downloaded, try force stopping WhatsApp (settings>apps>WhatsApp>force stop) before playing – aBochur Mar 5 '18 at 13:42
  • @ABochur (what a nickname haha), I don't currently have an SD card installed, and the issue persists even I restart my phone and the same video was already downloaded and opened before (via the gallery). – Shimmy Mar 5 '18 at 14:43
