I sleep with my phone on do not disturb and airplane mode next to me to track my sleep. I don't want the continuous cell/WiFi signal on next to my head all night while my Sleep as Android app tracks my sleep.

However, if for any reason there is some emergency with my job, I need to be able to be alerted via some notification or call.

Is there some app or some setting that would allow my phone to periodically connect to the WiFi to check for updates throughout the night and sound an alarm if it gets a signal to do so?

I know Sleep as Android can turn WiFi on and off to control my Philips Hue smart light as needed, so I'm hopeful there is something similar that can detect priority attempts at contacting me during certain times.

It is actually quite easy to do so, more so with Tasker or Macrodroid, but both would require root access. Is the Android rooted? – Firelord Jun 1 '18 at 8:22
  • It's not rooted. However, Sleep as Android can still control the WiFi and which network it connects to. – eComEvo Jun 1 '18 at 14:19
