How to send a text message from Skype on Android

So, I just spent 30 minutes trying to find out where to send a text message (SMS) to a phone number using the latest version of Skype on Android.

Does anyone know if it's still possible to do this or has this feature been removed?

Instructions please if possible.

Please if you reply make sure it applies to this rather new version of Skype for Android.

You can send text messages using Skype for Android phones and tablets at the same great Skype rates you get when using Skype on your computer. All you need is a little Skype Credit.

Sending an SMS text message To send a text message to a Skype contact’s mobile or landline number:

  1. Sign in to Skype.
  2. Locate the person you want to contact by going to the People tab, finding an existing conversation in Recent, or by using the search feature.
  3. After selecting a contact, tap the plus icon .
  4. Select Send via SMS.
  5. Enter your message. You’ll see the number of remaining characters as you’re typing in.
  6. Tap the send button.

If you can’t choose Send via SMS, it means that your contact doesn’t have any phone number attached to their account.

You can also send an SMS text message to a saved phone number. If a person in your People list has a telephone icon next to their name, it means that they have a saved phone number.

Edit:

So in the Latest version of Skype, you need to follow these steps:

  1. Go to the calls tab.

CallsTAb

  1. Select the dialpad icon

  2. Type the number you want to send SMS to.

SelectNumber

  1. Type your SMS and send.

No, you just copy pasted your reply from Google. I have already tried that and it does not seem to apply and it does not seem to work. – Vesa Jun 26 '18 at 9:16
  • can you share a screenshot so that we can better understand your problem. like, where are you stuck actually? Which step are you not able to follow? – Chandrani Chatterjee Jun 26 '18 at 9:24
  • Here is a screenshot: i.imgur.com/QOSydpM.png The instructions from Google search does not seem to apply at all. Maybe they apply only to older versions of Skype. There is no people tab for example as far as I can see. – Vesa Jun 26 '18 at 10:07

  • The problem is my Skype app does not look like yours. Thanks for trying but that is not going to fly here. If anyone has a working solution for my version of the app (see my original screenshot) then please post an answer to this question. – Vesa Jun 26 '18 at 13:25
