I'm looking for a way to disable auto mounting a USB OTG connected HDD to an Android 5.1 phone. So, basically, i dont want it to be mounted to /storage/usbotg.

I cant find anything about this. Someone have any idea where to start tinkering?

Story: I'm running arch linux with linux deploy on a phone and it is using the whole drive as a partition to run it. It does not work if the drive is mounted. The backlight of the screen does not work at all, and i want to make it work automatically when the phone boots.

This question came from our site for computer enthusiasts and power users.

  • A workaround could be to create 2 partitions on SD card; first one of a few MBs that Android will auto-mount, and the second one for your Linux usage. – Irfan Latif Jan 12 at 2:59
