I'm looking for a way to remove the options of adding a "guest account" and adding "another user" from the top pull-down menu in Android 8.0. Even if these options are still available in Settings > Users, I'm just looking for a way to delete them from that top menu.

I have a OnePlus 3T, not rooted, so I would prefer to do this without root access ( my android skills are not great), but willing to if that's the only option.

I checked the solutions in this previous post, specifically the adb shell one, setting guest_user_enabled to 0, but it didn't change anything (even after rebooting multiple times), I can still add a guest user and add additional users from the top menu.

Any help/advice is much appreciated!

    The solution behind that link is pretty easy. You root the device (very easy for OnePlus 3T; would cause full data deletion in that process so make backup beforehand) with Magisk and install the module SingleUserMod from Magisk app. That's all. – Firelord Jan 12 '19 at 5:55

    @Firelord Better than SingleUserMod: edit build.prop manually (add line fw.max_users=1) – iBug Jan 12 '19 at 16:56
  • @iBug that I know (I have it mentioned in my most voted answer there) but I prefer mods because they are easy to add and remove. No editing, no saving. Plus, they are easy to recommend. :) – Firelord Jan 12 '19 at 16:59
  • If I remember correctly adding support was like # Multi Users fw.max_users=30 fw.show_multiuserui=1 fw.show_hidden_users=1 fw.power_user_switcher=1 so if you change the 1 to 0 and the 30 to 1 might work like: # Multi Users fw.max_users=1 fw.show_multiuserui=0 fw.show_hidden_users=0 fw.power_user_switcher=0 with the build.prop. – Bo Lawson Jan 12 '19 at 17:57
