I just got a new Galaxy Tab S4 I did not set a password IN THE SET UP AS I did not want one The tablet timed out and now it wants a pass word which I don't have.I have tried all the reset options I can find on google but none will take me to the rest screen what do I do now?

Boot into recovery mode and make a complete wipe of the phone. This will remove any password. WARNING: All your data will be removed too.

  • It is not a phone. I have since found the answer. shut tablet off hold in power and volume down for about 45 sec. As soon as the Samsung logo appears let go buttons and reapply with power and volume up until boot screen appears. use volume up or down to select which function you want and hit power button to apply. It might take one or two tries for it to t otally do the reset. Follow the directions with the set up – William Eagle Apr 6 '19 at 19:10
  • What you have described is exactly what the answer says... Phone should be replaced for ( Device ) – Gadget Guru Apr 7 '19 at 2:05
  • Holding the buttons after shutting down is called Booting to recovery. – Gadget Guru Apr 7 '19 at 2:06
  • It is fine to say boot into recovery but if you don't know what buttons to use in what order that doesn't do you much good now will it. All the posts I could find on line said power and up volume, That does not work with this tablet, that was what I was looking for which buttons in which order. – William Eagle Apr 9 '19 at 3:59
