I'm following the tutorial on https://developer.sony.com/develop/open-devices/get-started/unlock-bootloader/how-to-unlock-bootloader/ .

Following are commands and their outputs.

sudo ./fastboot devices
CQ3001BYCA  fastboot

./fastboot devices
no permissions (user in plugdev group; are your udev rules wrong?); see [http://developer.android.com/tools/device.html] fastboot

sudo ./fastboot oem unlock 0x<my unlock code here>
FAILED (remote: 'Command not allowed')
fastboot: error: Command failed

./fastboot oem unlock 0x<my unlock code here>
< waiting for any device >

The output of the last command does not change after waiting 10 minutes.

The user is in plugdev group according to the id command.

echo $LOGNAME
user
id
uid=1000(user) gid=1000(user) groups=1000(user),4(adm),24(cdrom),27(sudo),30(dip),33(www-data),46(plugdev),116(lpadmin),126(sambashare)

What can I do to make fastboot recognize the device without using sudo? I'm using Ubuntu 18.04.1.
