Android 8.0, Moto G6

I set up a fingerprint yesterday to use to unlock specific apps in lieu of a PIN. I still want to use a PIN to unlock my phone and only use the print for specific apps (to unlock specific apps). Unfortunately, it seems that merely storing a fingerprint in the settings requires one to use that fingerprint to unlock the phone. Is there any way to fix this?

EDIT: I am looking to disable the fingerprint unlock. I am aware that I can use the PIN. I want to disable the fingerprint unlock. I want it to force the PIN every time. The fingerprint should never be able to unlock the phone.

  • Registering fingerprint(s) means you can use them to unlock the phone, but you never have to. You can still use the PIN to unlock the device. Anyway after x-times using the fingerprint to unlock you are forced to unlock the device using the PIN one time. – Robert Jun 26 at 17:34
  • @Robert, It appears I was unclear. I am looking to disable the fingerprint unlock. I am aware that I can use the PIN. I want to disable the fingerprint unlock. I want it to force the PIN every time. – dcacat Jun 26 at 20:50
