I had difficulty SMS texting from Android using the dialing number form: + 852 xxxxxxxxxx Eventually it worked when I changed the number to the following form: 011 852 xxxxxxxxxx

In these examples 852 is the country code and it is intended to be only representative of country codes in general.

Since Android allowed the contact to be recorded with a + type of format this is a surprising deficiency. It might be considered a bug if a number can be saved in a format that is non-functional.

Unfortunately many of my Google Contacts (that is, contact information not stored on the phone) are of the + format so this deficiency is inconvenient. This seems to be a surprising deficiency so I am posting here to see if people have found a workaround.

  • I am no numbering expert, but why inserting the + is deficient? Can you tell us what kind of workaround you are looking? – Reddy Lutonadio Aug 8 '19 at 8:08
