I have a pc with no wifi card and a laptop. I want to use the laptop as a second monitor using spacedesk software but it needs the two device to be connected on the same network. the only resources I have is my phone and I thought connecting the pc using phone's usb tethering and connecting the laptop to phone's wifi hotspot would put both devices in the same network, but it seems that they are different because the devices can't see each other.

Is there something I missed on here? like is there a developer setting to change? I already did the Usb option on developer settings but still can't make the two devices connect to each other.

  • Unfortunately, I can't root my phone since it is still new and I can't find the custom recovery file for it. Are there another way to solve this? I learned that the usb-tethering and wifi-hotspot has differenct subnets that's why they are not in the same network. Are there any ways to combine them? – Vivid_Darkness Aug 27 '20 at 9:32
  • Forgot about this. Buy a Ethernet cable aka LAN cable. A couple of bucks you need. Done. Connect the PC and the laptop with that Ethernet cable. Setup your PC or laptop as a hotspot (network sharing software might be needed in Windows 10) and both would come under a same network. Don't bother about Android. Not worth it. – Firelord Aug 27 '20 at 9:35
