When I try to turn on my mobile hotspot, it simply turns back off says error under Mobile Hotspot at Settings->Network & Internet->Tethering & Mobile Hotspot. Is there a way to debug this issue (maybe with adb) and get a more specific error code?

Note that USB and Bluetooth tethering work, just not the mobile hotspot. After factory resetting my phone, the hotspot works, however if I restore my backup, it stops working. I assume there's an application that is interfering with starting the hotspot, but it's hard to tell with such a generic error code.

Phone Model: Kyocera Duraforce Pro 2 (Kyocera-E6920)

Network: AT&T

Android version: 9

Software version: 3.157AT

  • If you have access to ADB, please use adb logcat to see the log on the device and find the relevant error when you enable the hotspot. – Andrew T. Sep 19 '20 at 15:31
