Faced with some mounting error when trying to install a fresh version of LineageOS on a spare Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (SM-G935F), I followed some dubious advice to format the internal memory to FAT and back to ext4. It now only boots as far as the TWRP logo, then remains stuck there. The phone still shows up in Odin, and i was able to push a PIT file, along with an updated TWRP recovery, both operation deemed 'Success' in Odin, but that doesn't make any further difference.

Is there another way to format the phone back to ext4 of did I effectively bricked it for good ?

Thanks a lot in advance,

  • I am not sure if this also applies to Samsung devices, but the full firmware images provided by the manufacturer usually contain a user data partition file. Therefore flashing the last full official firmware version for your device might recover the device from it's current state. – Robert Oct 13 '20 at 14:02
