I've integrated a tablet into my car, and would like to automatically trigger the shut down action* when the power is off. By that I don't mean shut down instantly, but show the screen before an actual shut down, where the user has to press the off-button one more time.

I'm implementing a tablet charging button in the car, so I have control over the charging process. Android tablet is running Android 10

Unfortunately if you want to show a dialog you need an app but apps can not initiate a shutdown without root privileges. A shutdown command without root con only be initiated by the user via the tablet GUI or using adb: android.stackexchange.com/q/47989/2241

  • With Tasker app you can create a scene (a UI screen) which can ask the user to tap on a button to begin shutdown. Autoinput extension for Tasker can call the power dialog in the background when the button is tapped. At that point, the user can either again click on shutdown or you can configure Autoinput to tap on it. It is a bit messy but it can work. If you search for "Autoinput reboot shutdown dialog" you would get working answers from some reddit users.
