Ive noticed something about the default Messages app on my Samsung Galaxy A71 5G.

When I have the conversation open for a given contact and they send me a new message there's no audible notification. If I switch to a different app or a different contact I do get an audible notification.

Is there a way to change this behavior? I don't see one. Just because the messages app is open to a particular contact doesn't mean that I'm looking at it.

  • Just because the messages app is open to a particular contact doesn't mean that I'm looking at it -- that may be true, but it is not wrong on part of app developer to assume that if the screen display is on, and a conversation is in foreground, then for all intents and purpose the user is actively interacting with the app. The app developer of your app can help in this. Ask it to them as a feature request. Nothing we can do. There may be an app using some accessibility service hack out there to achieve what you need, such as AutoInput app, but you'd have to figure that out on your own. – Firelord May 10 at 6:08
