When switching from Samsung Galaxy Note9 to Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, for my WhatsApp dual app (Samsung has the option to have 2 WhatsApp in 1 phone. This problem is occurring for 2nd WhatsApp called dualApp WhatsApp)

When I logged in, it didn't restore data probably because the app didn't have storage access permission given. So it logged me in after verification and I could only see people and groups whom I had a chat with but no chat record or documents. And in the "chat backup" option it showed "backup: Never".

I tried several ways to get back the data including one given on this link: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/67735037/whatsapp-cannot-detect-local-backup-file but nothing helped. It just logs me in and then there is no chat history or anything.

I have my local data backup available and saved. I just am unable to make WhatsApp restore from a locally available backup.

Where the link above says to skip, there when I click skip, it just goes on to logging me in if the internet connection is on. If the internet connection is off, it stays there and says you need to connect back. It never asks for restoration from a local backup.

Please help me with how to restore WhatsApp data from local storage for a dual app.

  • Possibly related: Dual Messenger - Where are files stored (e.g., WhatsApp) since the files also need to be on the correct path for the Dual Messenger version. Though, not sure how the WhatsApp path change since Android 11 may affect that.

  • I know the path of the databases and backups. what is happening is, it isn't restoring from there

  • I got the issue resolved somehow. I'd suggest anyone facing such basic issues to refer to YouTube instead of such platforms. Probably these platforms are for a little too advanced level problems..
