The situation: VPN service app doesn't provide proxy functionality, but proxy is necessary.

  • I didn't figure out. I can set up some proxy implementation using certain apps from play market, but it doesn't work globally, like VPN mode. Yes, certain apps provide VPN functionality, but i don't want to use proxy as VPN. Instead, i wan to use VPN over proxy. Commented Apr 9, 2023 at 12:24

Couldn't figure out your exact use case but yes that can be done, and I am using that setup sometimes for specific needs:

One would need an app that supports Proxy and I recommend ProxyDroid because of a plethora of features it offers (though you can search for other suitable apps in Playstore):

  1. Support HTTP / HTTPS / SOCKS4 / SOCKS5 proxy
  2. Support basic / NTLM / NTLMv2 authentication methods
  3. Individual proxy for only one or several apps
  4. Multiple profiles support
  5. Bind configuration to WIFI's SSID / Mobile Network (2G / 3G)
  6. Widgets for quickly switching on/off proxy
  7. Low battery and memory consumption (written in C and compiled as native binary)
  8. Bypass custom IP address

Setup isn't complicated at all but it needs root, simply input socks IP and port, configure app list and other tweaks if needed and you are good to go. You can then go ahead to connect to regular VPN.

(Dislaimer: I am no affiliated with ProxyDroid)
