I have no permissions enabled for messaging. How do I enable this to send and receive text messages and send emails?

I have no green check marks anywhere...

For example, if you go to settings-applications-manage applications and click on "all" and go to "messaging", it shows you all of the permissions. If you scroll down to the different descriptions (personal info, services that cost you money, your messages, network communication, etc.), to the left of these descriptions should be a green checkmark. All I have is danger triangles next to the descriptions and therefore can't send emails, receive sms and so on.

Is it a phone issue or a network provider issue?

Oh, it's a Samsung Galaxy Ace. My wife has a Samsung Galaxy, and it's working fine. She has all of the green checkmarks...

  • I'm not quite sure what you're asking here, is this from a programming's perspective? If yes: Alas, development questions are out of scope here (FAQ. – ce4 Nov 4 '12 at 17:51

If it's not a development question (as ce4 assumes), it would be good to provide some more details -- currently it is quite impossible to tell what you are asking. Eg.: What "green checkmarks" are you takling about? What kind of "messaging" (SMS, MMS, Whatsapp...)? What application are you talking about? Maybe you describe step-by-step what you're trying to do, until you "get stuck", and what you would expect at that place. – Izzy Nov 4 '12 at 18:13
  • It think you are under the wrong impression that the green checkmarks/red triangles are the reason that you can't send text messages or mails. They are not. Red triangles are just a indicator that the permission can cause harm. You should describe what happens if you try to send a text message or email... – Flow Nov 13 '12 at 10:10
  • And please make edits with your account and not as anonymous user. – Flow Nov 13 '12 at 10:14
