I use Callblocker currently, but the unwanted calls come from different numbers each with the same first 5 digits. Is there a free Android app to block them based on this pattern?

  • Further, have you looked in the Play Store?

Try aFirewall

Despite the name, it's an SMS/Call blocking app.

  • That worked. It didn't even turn up in Play store for a search, the search function is really terrible (esp when you consider Google is a search engine first).

  • Glad to be of help. I was once in the same situation as you, and after trying out A LOT of SMS/Call blockers, finally used aFirewall. I've 'graduated' to a better (but paid) app, however. But I still have fond memories of aFirewall :)

  • Can you suggest a lite android app to block incoming SMS? I tried a few couples of them, they fail to block the no. I need to. I have been receiving unwanted SMS from numbers like "AD-650022". as the sender's no. contain alpha chars, I can't add them in the block list.

  • @DivpreetSingh unfortunately, I don't think I can... I have purchase "Root Call Blocker" and has been very satisfied with its ability, so I'm no longer up-to-date with freeware blocking apps... sorry...

@pepoluan Never mind, I found one; and it does exactly what I wanted, only 190KB. :) play.google.com/store/apps/…

I did a search for "pattern based call blocking android app".

First Result

This app has call and sms blocking based on patterns.

  • That app is paid, and I had seen it before asking the question here. I am looking for a free app. I did find another free app later, though play.google.com/store/apps/…
