New phone: How to transfer game progress?

I just rooted my HTC Legend and succesfuly obtained the files for a few apps from the /data/data directory. I am now unsure on how I should go about getting that data onto my Samsung Galaxy S3 without rooting it. Can I use adb to do this or does adb use system images or something like that in order to restore backups. Thanks.

This question has been asked before and already has an answer. If those answers do not fully address your question, please ask a new question.

  • You will have to be rooted to put the data from the Legend on the S3. – Ryan Conrad Jan 27 '13 at 1:44
  • so using adb wouldn't work? If it is the wrong format or anything is it possible to convert it to the correct format? – Jai Jan 27 '13 at 1:46
  • adb wont work because you will not be able to access /data/data on your s3 without root access. – Ryan Conrad Jan 27 '13 at 1:48
  • According to the link you added as a possible duplicate no root access is required. – Jai Jan 27 '13 at 1:50

adb root only works on custom "development roms". If you run it you will receive the message "adbd cannot run as root in production builds" – Ryan Conrad Jan 27 '13 at 2:13
