Please help.

Is there anyone know how to assign a button on a remote keyboard to do something like start an app or clicking on a shortcut on the Home screen, such as the Search button will open the Google search app, and so on

I have read android input at http://source.android.com/tech/input/overview.html and it seems that such wish could be done without programming by changing the key mapping file, maybe the frameworks/base/core/res/res/values/config.xml (i found the framework.jar under the system folder of my android but no such config.xml inside!?)

Any help/ advise is highly appreciated

  • Am not exactly sure if you're asking for is a development related question or asking for a software to solve the problem? Read the FAQ :) – t0mm13b Mar 16 '13 at 14:23
  • Disagreement-day, @t0mm13b: could be done without programming, so it's not a development question (well, at least not explicitly). Though, I must admit, coming close to it (seeing all the framework stuff). "In dubio pro reo", let's assume the "questioner" is desparately looking for any solution, did some research, and only found the above. Let's think positively :) – Izzy Mar 16 '13 at 16:03
  • @user30338: Tasker can at least assign actions to the camera button. Would that be good for you? – Izzy Mar 16 '13 at 16:04
  • Actually I need to simulate the action click a shortcut on Home screen, by simply press a function key on a remote keyboard. The shortcut could be an app, a file, a widget...Thanks anyway – Bac Hoang Mar 17 '13 at 13:24
