I'm on 4.1.2 right now and want to update to the latest version (I believe it's 4.2.3). When I hit 'Check for updates' in settings > about phone > software update it says there's no update avaliable.

Just because Google released a new version of Android doesn't mean that Samsung (or any other manufacturer) has implemented it for any or all of their devices or that your carrier has made it available OTA.

Samsung does not appear to have made any announcement regarding if or when the Stellar may receive an update to JB 4.2.

  • Will it break my phone if I upgrade? I mean, is there any reason samsung is denying me the upgrade? – Jon May 16 '13 at 2:22
  • @chipperyman573 There's nothing for you to upgrade to. The code hasn't been ported to your device. It's not that they're denying you it per se, but that they haven't got any update made for it. Someone may have done their own porting work (see Where can I find stock or custom ROMs for my Android device? for places to look for those) that you might try, but Samsung hasn't made any 4.2 update for you yet. – Compro01 May 16 '13 at 3:01
