So today my (non-rooted) Galaxy S3 rebooted itself once or twice, then it shut off (94% battery) and after that I could not get it booted again. I could not hard reboot by holding down the power button for 10 seconds, or reset it by holding up power and home key for 10 seconds. I took the battery out and left it out for 15 minutes or so and same problem. I finally had it booted up awhile later and it started to do it again about 5 minutes later. The next time I got it booted up I factory reset it and erased everything. Once that was done I reset up my phone and while resetting it up it shut off, then when I got it set up and its still continuing to just go to a black screen and act like its going to boot up and goes to the Samsung screen, then Galaxy S3 and stops. This has never happened even a single time up until how, I haven't installed any new apps in a few weeks, I've only dropped it about twice (not even hard) a few months ago but that's it. Help?! Only recent change I've made to my phone was a Samsung account update

  • I have tried to research it online and in other forums/postings, but I haven't seen anything with my particular problem. now my phone is off and will occasionally boot super fast through samsung screen, and occasionally galaxsy s3 screen then go black again – user2113247 Aug 8 '13 at 22:52
  • Any other physical damage? You mention you dropped it a few months ago, but even so, it may have broken something that untill now affected things. I.e. a connection got damaged, and untill now it finally snapped. Or have your phone get wet? Did you lent it to someone that may have done something whithout your knowledge? If it is under guarantee try to get it repaired. – DiegoDD Aug 8 '13 at 22:55
  • And please, try to use line breaks in your questinos, it makes them easier to read. And if you have corrections or further comments, edit your question instead of posting a comment. Comments are better used to give further information to another users comments or questions (like mine above). Your own comments should be always in the main question. – DiegoDD Aug 8 '13 at 22:57
  • Never lent it to anyone, it started happening while it was sitting on my desk at work. I've never gotten it wet. only physical damage is a corner is scuffed up from a drop (about 2 feet). – user2113247 Aug 8 '13 at 22:57
  • As i mentioned, maybe that drop caused damage that only until now "appeared" and is causing the problems. Does it get hot (more than usual) when you manage to turn it on? For what you say, software is not likely to be an issue, so it may be faulty hardware. My suggestion is to repair it if under guarantee. – DiegoDD Aug 8 '13 at 23:02
