I'm a veteran iOS developer, giving Android a stab as part of an experiment that I hope will ultimately have me coding for my Google Glass. Today, my Moto X arrived. (Chosen because of it's small form factor and reported good battery life.) I do have a Nexus 4, but stopped using it because I thought it was too wide.

On my Nexus 4, I was able to change the menus to almost any language I wanted. I had German, I had Russian, and I even had Hebrew. On my Moto X, I've only got 4 languages: English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese.

I'd like to enable a few more, but I'm not sure where to get the languages from. I'm uneasy about simply downloading languages from anywhere, so I'm looking for an authoritative place to get the system languages from. (On Windows 7 I was able to grab language packs directly from Microsoft.) Does Google or Motorola offer language add ons?

It's not quite a duplicate, but did you see this question? My experience matches the answer on that question - that you can't add or remove languages without changing your ROM. Android natively supports a huge range of languages, but Motorola decided to remove most of them. It seems 95% of customers will be happy with Eng, Spanish, French and Portugese. Users like myself who speak languages outside those are out of luck on the Moto X. That said, it should still have no problem displaying other languages, but can't get the OS Menus in them. – dotVezz Jan 3 '14 at 4:34
