my LG G Pad 8.3 has been soft bricked after an attempt to root/unlock/install a ROM.

Exact steps to duplicate: (Please do not atempt to do so!)

  1. Attain root acess with ioroot25r1.

  2. Download the TWRP awifi image (from here) and execute:

 dd if=/sdcard/recoveryfilename.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery

(This was typed correctly, a cut in paste with the correct substituted recoveryfilename. It was run as root)

  1. Note that the recovery is unusable--resulting in the error message:

    Secure booting Error!

    Cause : boot certification verify

  2. Attempt to factory restart the device in the normal manner (via settings)

  3. Note that all attempts to boot now try to launch the recovery, which is corrupt.

Current properties:

  • No adb (android never runs)
  • No recovery (obviously)
  • Download mode won't start unless it's already plugged into a PC (normal?)
  • OS is fine, if I could only get it to stop auto-booting to the recovery...

What I've tried

  • Flashing with the LG Mobile Support Tool (documented here). Error message:

    No upgrade items to fix

  • Using the fix for said problem as detailed by post #21 (by NYCguy2020)

    • Result: Goes all the way to just after the tablet is plugged in and crashes (blah stopped working)

Obviously, bricked devices are never nice. Does anyone have ideas on how to fix it?
